Why this one

Adjustable range from 90 mm to 175 mm

This single tool dials in to the bore diameter you need, spanning the most common passenger-car and light-truck cylinder sizes.

Spring-loaded design for controlled compression

The built-in spring mechanism applies even, consistent pressure around the full circumference of each ring as you tighten the band.

Essential for cylinder head and block service

Rebuilding an engine means seating every ring squarely before the piston enters the bore.

Covers small-block to big-block bore sizes

The 90 mm low end fits most modern four-cylinder and V6 bores, while the 175 mm upper limit reaches large-displacement truck and performance engines.

Professional-grade engine assembly tool

Designed for repeated shop use, this compressor delivers the reliable ring seating that professional technicians and serious home builders demand.

Read the full description

When a rebuild reaches the point where pistons meet bores, controlled ring compression is what separates a clean installation from scored walls and snapped rings. This Teng Tools unit adjusts continuously from 90 mm to 175 mm, spanning the cylinder diameters found in most passenger-car four-cylinders, V6 and V8 engines, and many light-truck powerplants.

The spring-loaded mechanism applies steady, even pressure around the entire circumference of the ring package. Tighten the band to the bore diameter, seat it on top of the cylinder, and tap the piston home. The consistent force keeps every ring compressed flush against its land so nothing catches on the deck surface or the chamfer at the top of the bore.

Because the range is continuous rather than stepped, you are never stuck between two fixed sizes. That single-tool flexibility is especially valuable in a busy shop where engines of different displacements roll through the same bay. It also serves double duty during teardown, holding rings in place while you slide a piston out for inspection.

Built as tools for mechanics who measure success in comebacks avoided, this compressor earns its keep every time you reassemble a short block. Pair it with a torque plate and your preferred ring-gap file, and the bottom end goes together the way the service manual intended.
