All 1000-volt tools from TengTools conform to or exceed all specifications that the relevant authorities have established. Each tool is individually tested before it is marked with a special standard tag and a marking that indicates the year of manufacture.

Insulated Screwdrivers

The bi-material handle is designed for increased comfort and smooth action preventing blisters after continuous use. It gives better support and increased power transfer. Size and tip marked at the bottom of each handle for easy identification. Integrated protective insulation with two colours to clearly indicate if there is any damage to the insulation. RBD shafts are ultra slim allowing for recessed screws to be accessed easily. TT-MV PLUS steel alloy for greater strength and material flexibility.

Insulated Ratchet

Twist reverse mechanism for quickly changing between tightening and loosening. Insulation made in two parts, yellow insulating core and a red outer layer — any damage to the insulation can be detected quickly with the visibility of the yellow core layer. 72 Teeth ratchet give a working arc of just 5° making it ideal for working in confined spaces. Insulation properties have been tested in resistance to cold and fire as well as in pressurised environments. Ergonomically designed handle for increased comfort and smooth action.

Tested to IEC/EN 60900

Every tool is tested for insulation properties, i.e. resistance up to 1000 volts in dry or humid environments. Resistance to the cold. Durability, i.e. that the insulating handles do not come loose. Resistance to fire. Insulating properties under pressure. Tools marked with the letter "C" have been tested for cold condition performance at –20°C.

Common questions

What does the 1000V rating actually mean?
The tools are insulated according to IEC 60900 — the international standard for insulated hand tools used in live working up to 1,000V AC and 1,500V DC. EN 60900 is its identical European adoption, specifying the same mechanical, thermal and dielectric tests, including a 10,000-volt insulation test.
Is every tool tested, or just the design?
Each individual tool is tested before it is marked with its standard tag and a marking showing the year of manufacture. The range is VDE tested — VDE is an independent authority that checks construction, production and packaging — and conforms to GPSG.
How do I know if the insulation is damaged?
The insulation is made in two colors: a yellow insulating core under a red outer layer. If you can see yellow, the outer layer is compromised — take the tool out of service. Screwdrivers use the same two-color indicator system.
What exactly are the tools tested for?
Insulation resistance up to 1,000 volts in dry or humid environments; resistance to cold; durability (handles must not come loose); resistance to fire; and insulating properties under pressure.
What does the "C" marking mean?
Cold-condition certification per IEC/EN 60900: the insulation is conditioned at –20°C and must pass mechanical impact tests after cooling while still meeting all electrical safety requirements. If you work outdoors or in cold plants, look for the C.
Are the insulated screwdrivers clumsy to use?
No — TT-MV PLUS steel shafts with ultra-slim RBD profiles reach recessed screws easily, and the bi-material handle gives better support and power transfer. Size and tip are marked at the base of each handle.
Is there an insulated ratchet?
Yes — 72 teeth for a 5° working arc in confined spaces, twist reverse, ergonomic handle, and insulation tested for cold, fire and pressurized environments.
