Digital tool control with KIT

KIT puts a digital record behind every Teng Tools foam kit. Each drawer carries a QR label linked to its tool list. A technician scans the label with a phone, sees the drawer layout, and confirms what is present, what is missing and what is damaged. The record lives in a cloud register you can audit, report on and export. No sensors, no cabinet electronics: the foam does the visual control and KIT does the accountability.

Previously offered in the United States as Teng Tools Tracked. Same foam, same app; the label now says KIT.

What KIT does

Six things, all from the drawer label

  • Digital asset register

Structured records of every tool and piece of equipment: manufacturer, part number, unique identifier, serial, location down to drawer level.

  • Electronic tool audits

Scan the drawer label, tap Visual Audit, mark anything missing on the layout, confirm. The register updates and the summary reaches the dashboard and, if you want it, an email.

  • Missing or damaged tool reporting

Scan, pick the tool from the list or search it, choose the issue type, add a note, confirm. Damaged tools appear in reports with an optional email to whoever orders replacements.

  • Standardisation

The same kit configuration across bays, shifts and sites, with one register to check them against.

  • Calibration management

Calibration dates and certificates stored against the tool; reminders before the due date; an upcoming-calibration report that lists what to collect and where it lives.

  • Audit and compliance records

Every audit stamped with who did it and when; records exportable to Excel for your own quality system.

Three tiers on the same foam

As the need for control, traceability and automation grows, the same foam kits move up a tier rather than being replaced.

Intelligent control

Smart Box

Automated tracking and user accountability.

RFID or keycard access, sensing in the foam layout, live status on the cabinet screen.

KIT has no automated tool detection, no user-controlled access, no automatic transaction logging and no real-time tool status. Those four are the Smart Box tier.

Who it is for

Scheduled accountability without cabinet electronics

Maintenance teams that audit weekly or per shift and want the audit to take minutes, not the morning. Sites with calibrated torque and measuring equipment that need due dates and certificates in one place. Shops standardising kits across bays or locations.

If tool loss is a safety-critical risk and you need to know who removed what and when, that is the Smart Box tier.

KIT is intelligent tool control software by Coplan Ltd (Milton Keynes, UK), supplied with Teng Tools foam kits. Coplan states the platform is cloud-hosted with data encrypted in transit and at rest. The IT note is available on request through the form.

Questions

The questions engineers ask first

Does KIT need any hardware in the cabinet?
No. KIT uses a printed QR label on each foam drawer and a phone or desktop browser. There are no sensors, readers or screens on the cabinet.
Can I use KIT with foam kits I already own?
Yes, if the drawer layout is registered in KIT so the label links to the right tool list. Existing Teng Tools foam kits are registered during specification.
Does KIT know who took a tool?
No. KIT records who ran an audit and what they found. Identifying the person who removed a tool needs access control and detection, which is the Smart Box tier.
How long does an audit take?
A drawer audit is one scan and a few taps. Speed depends on drawer count and how many tools are missing; a whole cabinet is typically minutes.
What happens when a tool is damaged?
Scan the drawer, select the tool, choose the issue type, add a note. The tool is flagged in reports and an email can go to the person who orders replacements.
Does it track calibration?
Yes. Calibration dates and certificates are stored against each tool, with reminders before the due date and a report of what is due and where it is.
Can several sites share one register?
Yes. Kits at different locations sit in one register, so the same configuration can be checked everywhere.
Does it work offline?
The app needs a connection to update the register. Audits are done at the drawer with a phone on Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Where is the data held?
KIT is a cloud application run by Coplan Ltd, with data encrypted in transit and at rest. Ask for the IT note through the form if your security team needs the detail.
Is KIT the same as Teng Tools Tracked?
Yes. Tracked was the earlier name used in the United States for the same foam-and-app system. The label now reads KIT.
Can I buy KIT without Teng Tools foam?
KIT is supplied with Teng Tools foam kits and registered to their layouts. Tell us what you have and we will say what is possible.
What does a specification meeting cover?
Your tool list, how you audit today, how many drawers and sites, calibration needs, and who will use the app. You leave with a proposed configuration.
