Teng Tools vs the Tool Trucks

The short version: a tool truck sells you a box on a weekly payment plan, at a price your dealer quotes. We sell the same class of kit at a price printed on the page, paid once, shipped from Fort Worth. If you want someone pulling up to your bay every Thursday, the truck is genuinely better. If you'd rather see the price before you commit, keep reading.

The price is the price

The tool truck model puts a dealer between you and the number. That dealer finances the box, carries the risk, drives the route and services the claim — real work, and it is priced into what you pay. It also means the figure you're quoted depends on your shop, your history and the conversation you have at the back door.

We don't run a route. Every kit on this site carries a published price, the same price for the technician buying one box and the fleet buying twelve. You can compare it against anything else before you commit, without asking anyone.

No weekly payment, no balance following you

Truck financing spreads a large purchase across manageable weeks, which is exactly why it exists, and for plenty of technicians that is the difference between having a box and not having one. It also means a running balance that moves with you between shops, and a total that is larger than the sticker.

Buying direct, the transaction ends at checkout. What you paid is what it cost.

You get the whole catalogue, not the truck's inventory

A route truck carries what fits, chosen for what usually sells. If what you want isn't aboard, it's a wait and a conversation. Teng Tools runs to over 3,000 items across more than 30 countries, and the range is on the site whether or not it happens to be popular this month. Our kits ship from our own warehouse in Fort Worth, Texas.

Built the way we've built since 1985

Teng Tools was founded in Sweden in 1985 around the Get Organized™ system — a well-selected range, clever storage, properly composed sets. Four decades on, that's still the core of it. Wrenches get a satin finish rather than polished chrome, because it resists slipping and survives daily use. Screwdriver blades run straight through the handle so they don't snap under torque. Boxes are heavy-gauge steel with multi-step rust prevention. Torque wrenches conform to ISO 6789, are individually tested, and ship with a Declaration of Conformance.

Every hand tool carries a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. If a tool fails because of how it was made, we replace it. That's the whole policy.

When the tool truck is the better call

We'd rather you buy the right thing than buy from us. Stay with the truck if:

  • You need the payment plan. If spreading the cost is what makes a full box possible, that's a real service and we don't offer it.
  • You want a warranty swap in your hand the same week. A dealer who takes the broken ratchet and hands you a new one on the spot is hard to beat. Ours goes by photo and ships.
  • You value the relationship. A good dealer knows your bay, your work and what you're about to need. That's worth something, and it isn't something a website replaces.

When we're the better call

  • You want to see the price first. Every number is published, on every page.
  • You're done with weekly payments. Pay once, own it, move on.
  • You're buying for a shop, fleet or facility. Same published price whether it's one box or twelve, and we're TAA approved for government, defense and institutional buyers.
  • You want the kit composed properly. Trays click into the same drawer grid across the range — build the box before you buy it.
