Teng Tools vs Craftsman Compared (2026)

The short version: both brands cover hand tools for life, so neither of us wins there. The difference is the box those tools live in. Craftsman cover tool storage for one to ten years depending on which line you buy, against defects only. We cover storage for the life of the tool, the same as everything else we sell.

They sell the set and the box separately. Ours arrives loaded.

A Craftsman mechanics set comes in a blow-moulded case or a VERSASTACK box. A Craftsman tool chest is a different purchase on a different aisle. Putting the two together, and working out what is still missing, is left to you.

Our cabinets arrive with the tools already in them, cut into foam, one line and one price. The 26 inch holds 628 tools at $2,639.99. The 37 inch workstation holds 1,008 at $5,999.99. The 53 inch Monster Stack holds 1,295 at $11,439.99. Nothing to assemble and nothing to source separately.

What their storage warranty actually covers

Craftsman hand tools carry a full lifetime warranty and you do not need a receipt. Their storage is a different promise, and it varies by line.

Product Storage warranty
Craftsman 3-drawer metal toolbox 1 year
Craftsman Series 1000 tool chests 3 years
Craftsman Series 2000, Series 3000, V-Series 10 years
Teng Tools storage Life of the tool

Their storage cover is for defects in workmanship or in the material, not wear and tear or accidental damage, and it applies only if you bought from an authorized seller. Ours carries no authorized-seller clause, because we are the only seller.

Where the two are level, and we will say so

Hand tool warranty. Craftsman replace a hand tool that fails to perform, for life, with no proof of purchase. That is a genuinely good warranty and we are not going to pretend otherwise. On the tools themselves, this is a draw.

Availability. Craftsman is on a shelf at Lowe's and Ace Hardware. We ship from one warehouse in Fort Worth, Texas.

When we are the better call

  • You want the storage covered for the life of the tool rather than one, three or ten years.
  • You want the cabinet to arrive already loaded, with every tool cut into foam so a gap is obvious at a glance.
  • You want a warranty with no authorized-seller clause and no receipt hunt.
  • You want one supplier for over 3,000 items, designed in Sweden since 1985, with the price published on every page.
  • Your torque wrenches matter: ours conform to ISO 6789, are individually tested, and ship with a Declaration of Conformance.
  • You want foam that can become an audit trail later, without rebuying the tools.

Common questions

Do both brands have a lifetime warranty? On hand tools, yes, and Craftsman do not ask for a receipt. On storage they do not: Craftsman cover it for one to ten years depending on the line, for defects only. We cover storage for the life of the tool.

Who makes Craftsman now? Stanley Black & Decker, since 2017. The brand moved away from Sears, and current warranty terms are theirs rather than the Sears-era ones people remember.

Do you sell a set that fits a Craftsman box? We sell trays and foam that fit our own drawers. If you already own a Craftsman chest, buy tools, not a kit. If you are buying the box as well, compare the loaded cabinets.

Where are Teng Tools made? Designed in Sweden, made in Taiwan. The brand was founded in 1985 and runs across more than 30 countries.
